  • ⅔ cup ice-cold water
  • 1½ cups apple butter
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
  • 14 oz sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: Cut cold butter into cubes and freeze for 15 minutes. In a food processor, mix flour and salt, then pulse in butter until pea-sized. Add ice-cold water and pulse until dough forms. Chill for 1-2 hours.
  2. Roll out the dough: After chilling, roll out the dough to about ⅛-inch thick and transfer to a pie dish. Par-bake at 375°F for 20 minutes.
  3. Make the filling: Combine apple butter, eggs, dark brown sugar, flour, vanilla paste/extract, and sweetened condensed milk in a bowl; whisk until smooth.
  4. Assemble the pie: Pour filling into the par-baked crust and bake at the same temperature for about 60 minutes until set but slightly jiggly.
