Ingredients
- 3¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup + 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (cold)
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ⅔ cup ice-cold water
- 1½ cups apple butter
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
- ¼ cup dark brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla paste or extract
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: Cut cold butter into cubes and freeze for 15 minutes. In a food processor, mix flour and salt, then pulse in butter until pea-sized. Add ice-cold water and pulse until dough forms. Chill for 1-2 hours.
- Roll out the dough: After chilling, roll out the dough to about ⅛-inch thick and transfer to a pie dish. Par-bake at 375°F for 20 minutes.
- Make the filling: Combine apple butter, eggs, dark brown sugar, flour, vanilla paste/extract, and sweetened condensed milk in a bowl; whisk until smooth.
- Assemble the pie: Pour filling into the par-baked crust and bake at the same temperature for about 60 minutes until set but slightly jiggly.
- Cool completely before slicing; optionally top with additional apple butter.
