Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons ground flaxseed or 5 tablespoons applesauce
- 1/2 cup oil
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- If using flaxseed, mix it with water and let it thicken. If using applesauce, skip this step.
- In a medium pot over medium-low heat, dissolve sugar in water while mixing until fully dissolved (about 5-10 minutes).
- In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients (sugar excluded).
- Pour the sugar mixture into the dry ingredients and add remaining wet ingredients. Mix gently until combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if desired.
- Pour batter into an 8×8 baking pan lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 35-42 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow brownies to cool before slicing.
