- 4 pita breads
- 1 cup tzatziki sauce
- 1 cup chopped lettuce
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a mixing bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Marinate the Chicken: Slice chicken into thin strips. Coat with marinade and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Cook the Chicken: Preheat grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook chicken strips for about 5–7 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Warm the Pita: Lightly warm each pita on the grill or skillet for about 1 minute per side.
- Assemble the Gyros: Layer warm pitas with grilled chicken strips, tzatziki sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion.
- Serve: Fold pitas closed and serve immediately.
