  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 34 whole cardamom pods, slightly crushed
  • 1-inch piece of fresh ginger, sliced
  • 23 whole cloves
  • 1 cup coconut milk (full-fat for a creamier texture, or light coconut milk)
  • 12 tbsp coconut sugar (optional, adjust to taste)

Instructions

  1. Boil 1½ cups of water in a saucepan. Add the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, sliced ginger, and cloves. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in black tea leaves (or tea bags) and steep for 3-5 minutes based on your strength preference.
  3. Pour in 1 cup of coconut milk and let simmer on low heat for another 2-3 minutes.
  4. Sweeten with 1-2 tablespoons of coconut sugar as desired.
  5. Strain into cups or mugs, discarding solids.
  6. Serve hot or cool over ice. Optionally garnish with ground cinnamon or star anise.
