  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 (15-ounce) can chopped stewed tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, rinsed and drained

Instructions

  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, brown the ground beef with minced garlic and chopped onion for about 10 minutes until the meat is fully cooked. Drain excess liquid.
  2. Stir in the chopped stewed tomatoes, beef broth, chili powder, ground cumin, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and let simmer for one hour while stirring occasionally.
  4. Add rinsed pinto beans and salt; stir well and cook for an additional 15 minutes. Serve hot.
