  • 2 tbsp melted butter (or vegan butter, for icing)
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup (for icing)
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, spices, salt, and sugar.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in molasses and milk until just combined into a sticky dough.
  5. Shape dough into a circle about 3/4" thick on a lined baking sheet.
