  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter (divided)
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 1/2 cups toasted pecans, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with aluminum foil or a silicone mat.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine white sugar, brown sugar, and evaporated milk. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Insert a candy thermometer and cook while stirring until it reaches 240°F. Remove from heat.
  4. Add cubes of butter on top of the mixture without stirring for one minute. Then add vanilla extract and pecans, stirring gently.
  5. Drop spoonfuls onto the prepared baking sheet quickly before the mixture sets.
  6. Allow pralines to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes until hardened.
