  • 1 & ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • ⅔ cup pumpkin puree (blotted)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, and salt.
  3. Cream together softened butter, white sugar, and dark brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
  7. Scoop dough onto a baking sheet about two inches apart.
  8. Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden around the edges.
  9. Cool on a rack before icing with maple icing made from powdered sugar mixed with maple syrup and spices.
