- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 & ½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup chopped pecans
- ½ cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- ¼ cup white sugar
- ¾ cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- ⅔ cup pumpkin puree (blotted)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, and salt.
- Cream together softened butter, white sugar, and dark brown sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add egg, maple syrup, and blotted pumpkin puree; mix until combined.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture; mix until just combined.
- Fold in half of the chopped pecans.
- Scoop dough onto a baking sheet about two inches apart.
- Bake for 13-15 minutes until golden around the edges.
- Cool on a rack before icing with maple icing made from powdered sugar mixed with maple syrup and spices.
