Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a greased and lined 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla; mix well.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with buttermilk until smooth, then stir in hot water.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25–30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
