- 1½ lbs sirloin tips, cubed
- 3 tbsp flour
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 small yellow onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp each: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp butter
- ¼ tsp each: dried thyme, rosemary
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 3 tbsp cornstarch + ¼ cup cold water (for slurry)
Instructions
- Season cubed sirloin with salt and spices; coat with flour.
- Heat olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat; brown the seasoned beef in batches and set aside.
- In the same pan, melt butter; sauté onions and garlic until soft.
- Add beef broth and bouillon cube; stir in herbs and bring to a simmer.
- Return beef to the pan and simmer for 20–25 minutes until tender.
- To thicken gravy, mix cornstarch with cold water; stir into the sauce until desired thickness is reached.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving over rice or potatoes.
