  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, lukewarm
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons (7g) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (150g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (60g) powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 tablespoons whole milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Activate yeast by combining lukewarm milk and yeast in a bowl; let sit until frothy (5-10 minutes).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center; add activated yeast mixture along with softened butter, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until dough forms.
  3. Knead dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl; cover and let rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
  5. While dough rises, prepare the cheesecake filling by beating softened cream cheese until smooth; mix in sugar, vanilla extract, flour, and sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  6. After rising time is complete, punch down dough and roll into a rectangle (16×12 inches). Spread softened butter over the dough.
  7. Evenly spread cheesecake filling over the buttered dough and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  8. Roll tightly from one long edge to form a log; cut into 12 equal pieces.
  9. Place rolls in a greased baking dish; cover loosely and let rise for another 30–45 minutes until puffed up.
  10. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  11. Cool slightly before icing with cream cheese icing made from beating together softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
